Sepia Tears is now released

December 28th, 2013

Download it here.

It has been a long journey, but the game is finally done. I hope you enjoy it!

I’m unsure of what the future of this group will be. It’s unlikely that Sepia‘s specific team will stick together, but we may work together in some combination in the future. I personally want to work on a game (likely a story-heavy RPGmaker game like To The Moon) this summer. If I do work on something else, I might convert this blog into an actual group website. If not, thanks for reading!

It’s done!

I doubt many people are still subscribed to this blog, but Sepia Tears is now complete. I’ll release it on Christmas Eve. Enjoy!

Getting Closer

July 15th, 2012

Hello internet. Good news: Sepia Tears is basically done. We’re finishing up a little bit of everything: debugging, scattered backgrounds and CGs, and one last song. In the meantime, I’d like to welcome aboard our official Snow Artist, mefloraine. Her job is to draw snow on BG artist Mugenjohncel’s backgrounds, like so:

See? Snow! What wonderful snow. Good to know that we have snow in a game set in the winter.

At any rate, I can’t make any promises but I really really hope and expect to have this game finished by September. Stay tuned for the OP video!

Writing song lyrics

March 4th, 2011

Is an interesting endeavour. It’s fun to take the symbols and motifs we’ve been working with in the narrative and cram them into a few stanzas of lyrics while trying to sound poetic. It’s awkward at points but I think I’ve gotten a feel for it.

So, current music status:

OP – Far Away: Music’s almost done but I haven’t thought about lyrics yet.
IN – Sepia Tears: Music and lyrics are done.
ED – Frozen Solid: Music is 90% done and I have a decent idea of what I want to write.

Vocal music aside, lelangir only has a few more BGM tracks to complete as well. Altogether the music aspect of the project is looking good.

A midwinter’s update

January 15th, 2011

Greetings, fellow… lurkers? If you’re wondering what’s up with the project, here’s an estimate of where we are now.

Scenario: 100% until other stuff is added, at which point I’ll have to edit+run it through a few beta testers.
Art: Still around 50% through the CGs.
Backgrounds: ~75% or so. Looking good.
Music: Around 50% and steadily increasing. We even have another super secret surprise for you with regards to the OP and ED songs, but I’ll leave that hanging for a bit…

As you can see, the project’s positions are finally filled and the volume of work is slowly decreasing. I might start thinking about marketing when I begin my final edit of the game, but for now I’d rather stay quiet since there’s really no telling when we’ll be done.

In other news, I’ve finally gotten into the habit of using IRC, so you can drop by #teamneet if you’re bored and want to chat (or maybe even stalk our progress!). Right now we’re obscure enough that there aren’t any specific rules in place so it’s a pretty casual affair.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Go play Shira Oka or something while we get everything sorted out.

Stuff that happened recently

September 2nd, 2010
  • Script is fully edited and inserted with sprites, meaning that I can finally take a vacation. Kinda.
  • Composer will be able to do the job, though probably at a faster rate if I prod him along.
  • It looks like we have a super secret guest to do the background art. Hint: you’ve seen his work before.

No screencaps yet because it’ll look exactly as it did half a year ago. Kinda depressing, but meh. Maybe this is why eroge translators don’t like posting their progress. Anyway, summer is over, but I did the stuff I wanted to do and things are progressing surprisingly well here. It’s hard to say if we’ll make it in time for Christmas but I’m glad that I finally have enough people to assure that the project is completed. That said, finding someone who can make an opening video might be easier said than done…

Hey, look

In case you were wondering

Sepia Tears first draft stats

Incidentally, the first draft is about 10k words shorter than the first-first draft. I guess that shows how much I ramble when I don’t know what I’m supposed to be writing!

I’m not copying Amaterasu, I swear!

December 15th, 2009

It’s just that LightWord is a really nice theme!

In other news, I’m almost done scripting the story into Ren’Py and Choux made a lot of progress with the character sprites. I’m sure I’ll finish the scenario in a few days (and I’ll post photographic evidence when I do!), but the 12 Days project in the blogosphere has been messing up my schedule.

As for my plans for this site (which shouldn’t matter to you because you probably aren’t reading this), I’m thinking of going the generic route; submitting it to Planet EVN and posting some short reviews of OEL and Japanese doujin VNs. Like always, I have no target date and no predicted release date for Sepia Tears, but since the majority of my work is just about done, I’ll be able to take some time off, assemble the rest of the team, work on the site, and ultimately work out the kinks in the story while gluing everything together. It’s a bit early to say “look forward to it”, but look forward to it!

A Less-Than-Grand Re-opening

July 24th, 2009

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I doubt if many of you keep a close eye on the site, but I’d like to at least mention that the move is complete: any information on the visual novels produced by the team (or at least by me) will be kept here.

With that aside, I suppose I should say hi. This is Eternal speaking, and chances are every post on here will be written by me. I decided to delete the previous posts – I’m sure no one will miss them – and I’ll do away with the faux-professional writing, since the OEL community was never known for its professionalism. Regardless, I hope you enjoy our projects, though we have nothing to offer you at the moment. If you’re interested, check out the tabs up above, or simply subscribe to the feed: I’ll be sure to let you know when a project is completed. You can also contact me at admin[at]

Until then, sit tight and look forward to our future announcements!
